Branden Fitzgerald, International Skeet Champion and Outdoorsman

My passion for clay target shooting ignited at age 13 in late 2022 when I first held a shotgun. From that moment, I was captivated by the sport’s precision and intensity. My initial trap lesson was a revelation—I scored an impressive 23 out of 25, signaling a natural talent and sparking a drive to excel. Eager to grow, I joined a youth shooting team, where dedicated coaching and relentless practice accelerated my skills. Within months, I was mastering various disciplines, including trap, skeet, and sporting clays, and competing in local and regional tournaments.
Just four months after starting, I began entering competitive events and quickly tasted success, earning top placements and building confidence. By 2024, my ambitions had grown: I set my sights on Olympic gold and a world championship title in International Skeet, a fast-paced and challenging discipline that demands focus and adaptability. That year marked a turning point. In my first month competing in International Skeet, I reached a major final, a testament to my rapid progress. At the prestigious Jacksonville International Skeet Open, I secured a silver medal in the junior men’s division, a proud moment that fueled my determination.
Now, I’m on a relentless pursuit of international recognition, competing in high-stakes tournaments across Europe and North America. Each event is a step toward my ultimate goals—standing atop the Olympic podium and claiming a world championship title. With every clay I break, I’m driven by passion, discipline, and an unwavering commitment to becoming one of the best in the sport that I love so much.
As someone who loves the outdoors, I’ve developed a strong interest in fly fishing, hunting, and exploring all kinds of natural places. I’ve gone fishing in some of the best spots in North America, trying to catch different types of fish in both freshwater and saltwater, and I dream of fishing around the world someday. When it comes to hunting, I enjoy the thrill of going after big animals, birds like pheasants, and ducks or geese, especially in the western United States. These activities give me both excitement and a sense of connection to nature. I also love other outdoor adventures, like skiing down snowy mountains, driving off-road in Moab, and scuba diving in the Florida Keys. Doing these things helps me get better at them and makes me value nature even more, pushing me to keep looking for new challenges and peaceful moments outside.
My faith is everything to me. I was baptized when I was only two months old at Christ the King, a beautiful old church in Tahoe City. Ever since I was little, I’ve prayed to thank God for all the good things in my life. When I learned to read, I started diving into the Bible, and it brought me even closer to God. I really believe that my family, my talent for shooting, and all the amazing opportunities I’ve had are gifts from God because of my faith in Him. When I'm not traveling, I enjoy reading the Word of God to the congregation and helping our Pastor with communion and blessing the bread and wine. Right now, I’m studying theology in school, and it’s something I want to keep learning about forever. I love God so much, and I feel His love and blessings every single day. My favorite Bible verse is Psalm 136:1 (NIV): “Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good. His love endures forever.”
Since I was young, I’ve loved learning, and I got to explore that passion in outdoor classrooms around Tahoe’s wilderness. Those hands-on experiences built my connection to nature and made me excited about education. I did really well in school, but I wanted a setup that could keep up with my fast pace of learning and my growing shooting career. Regular classrooms worked for a while, but eventually, I switched to online school. That change has been perfect—it lets me juggle tough classes, my faith, and my intense training and competition schedule. Thanks to this path, I’ve kept a 4.0 GPA while chasing what I love. It’s also taught me how to adapt and bounce back, showing me how important it is to match my faith and education with my personal goals.
Your support ignites a fire within me to continually improve and represent our sport with pride and integrity. I promise to channel your energy and faith into every competition, striving to make you proud with each pull of the trigger. In closing, thank you all for being an integral part of my journey. Your support transcends the sport itself, shaping not just my athletic career but also my character. Together, we've created memories that will last a lifetime, and I look forward to many more.
